ABOUT THE ARTIST

Hi everyone, my name is Deborah Kasongo and I am the founder of “DeeKaayArt”! DKA/DeeKaayArt stands for Deborah Kasongo Art! I am Congolese, raised in Toronto Canada. My Art is a mix of abstract paintings and digital creations. I was always a creative child...drawing, colouring everything and everywhere! My love for art started to flourish in high school when I took my art classes and computer technology courses. I excelled in both courses and really found that I had a love for art and digital design. This led me to pursue my Bachelor’s Degree in Technology (Graphic Communications Management program) and minor in Entrepreneurship and Innovation from Ryerson University.

I am now an abstract painter and a digital artist! I paint unique paintings and design digital pieces that could fit perfectly in someone’s home! I feel like art allows us to connect and it’s interesting how differently people view art and the message behind an art piece! My art sends a message and that message can be different for every person! Art = Freedom!

In the show you guys will see a series of different art displayed and some will be my art! The show made an effort to represent the black community by having black actors, actresses, crew members and artists. I am honoured to have my art featured in such a big way,
